TangoDJS - THE MARATHON

DAVID GONZALEZ

Antónia Nagykáldi

Antónia Nagykáldi is the resident DJ at Milonga Sin Palabras in Budapest and a regular DJ at tango festivals, marathons, gatherings, and milongas across Europe.

"What I love most about tango is the harmony with my partner, expressing the style and the fine details of the music and the performance. As a tango DJ since the beginning (2008), I always try to interpret these values, because for me, dancing and DJing are closely related.

I choose pieces for my tandas mostly from the Golden Age, with some from the Guardia Vieja and the post-Golden Age period as well. I compile the music to keep the energy high, as well as the flow on the dance floor.

I never forget my most important way of choosing music: it has to be danceable and on top of that: interesting enough to keep people dancing.

THE KID FROM MEDINA

He is a lover and scholar of tango, which he enjoys in various ways: dancing, composing music, spreading the word about its culture and history, and taking amateur photographs of tango events.

As a tango promoter, he has a YouTube channel that includes a popular series called "Píldoras Tangueras," in which he shares stories, curiosities, and anecdotes from the world of Gotán. He also presents versions of lesser-known tangos, as well as the history behind many of them.

It was this interest in studying classical tango orchestras that led him to dedicate himself to composing music, becoming a regular contributor to the various milongas organized by the "Casa del Tango de Sevilla," as well as other milongas and events in Seville and the rest of Andalusia. He has also composed music in Lagos (Portugal), Paris, and Madrid.

He has successfully participated in two editions of Seville's leading tango festival, the Milonga Sevilla Workshop, where he shared the stage with leading European and Argentine musicians.

His repertoire revolves around orchestras from the 1940s, with forays into the 1930s and 1950s, without neglecting modern orchestras, which he considers the living tango of today. He likes to maintain a lively dynamic in the milonga, combining highly energetic tandas with romantic and dramatic ones that intensify the embrace and the tango feeling.
